Pot-Limit Omaha
NLH/PLOmedium2–9 players
Objective
Win chips by making the best 5-card hand at showdown using exactly two hole cards and exactly three community cards, or by forcing all other players to fold.
The Basics
Each player receives four private hole cards and shares five community cards, but must use exactly two hole cards and exactly three board cards to make their hand. Maximum bet at any point is the size of the current pot.
Setup
Same blind structure as No-Limit Hold'em. Each player is dealt 4 hole cards face down. Action preflop starts left of the big blind.
Betting Rounds
- Preflop — 4 hole cards dealt. Action starts left of the big blind.
- Flop — Three community cards dealt face up. Action starts left of the dealer.
- Turn — Fourth community card added. Same action order.
- River — Fifth community card. Last betting round before showdown.
Bet Sizing
- Minimum bet is the size of the big blind.
- Minimum raise is the size of the previous bet or raise.
- Maximum bet is the size of the pot. A pot-sized raise = the current pot + all bets on the table + the caller's call amount.
Key Rules
- A player must use exactly two hole cards and exactly three board cards — no more, no fewer.
- A four-card flush on the board does not constitute a flush unless the player uses exactly two cards of that suit from their hand.
- If unsure of the pot-sized bet amount, ask the dealer to calculate it before acting.
Common Mistakes
- Using one, three, or four hole cards — only exactly two are ever valid.
- Misreading a flush: holding one card of the flush suit does not make a flush; exactly two are required from hand.
At the Table
Four hole cards dealt, but only exactly two may be used in combination with exactly three of the five community cards.
